Forensic Science Today with George Taft
Wednesday September 13 from 12:30 - 1:30pm

George Taft, author and noted forensic scientist, will offer a Powerpoint presentation at the UAA Campus Bookstore. His topics will include crime scene investigation, career choices, and what citizens can do to cut down on crime. Book signing to follow.

George Taft has been in the field of forensic science for over forty years. He holds degrees in Chemistry from Alfred University and Anthropology from the University of Alaska Anchorage. He was most recently director of the State of Alaska Crime Laboratory. In addition to touring internationally, he has spoken to numerous secondary school groups with regard to forensic science. He is co-author of the textbook Forensic Science Today. He is a member the International Association for Identification, a Diplomat in the American Board of Criminalistics, has served on the Board of the American Society of Crime Laboratory Directors and is currently serving on that society’s Laboratory Accreditation Board (ASCLD-LAB). He has been described as a truly remarkable man and overly modest about his accomplishments. One of his techniques – using super glue fumes to uncover latent prints – would be familiar to any fan of the CSI television shows. There is even a bronze bust of George Taft displayed at the Trooper Museum.

Please join us for a fascinating afternoon with this special guest.
